Amazon Launches Climate Pledge Friendly | What You Need to Know
Recently, Amazon launched a new program called Climate Pledge Friendly. The tech giant says that it has created this program in keeping with it’s mission to become net-zero carbon by 2020. Essentially, the program enables customers to more easily find environment-friendly, sustainable products. The program will highlight the most sustainable products on Amazon and provide them with a certification, Compact by Design. This certification will enable consumers to see which products are most sustainable.
If you are someone who believes you may have a product that qualifies, you will have to first be certified by one of the sustainability certifications featured Amazon’s certification page or by Amazon’s Compact by Design certification. If you wish to receive the certification, your item will have to have less packaging than other similar items, it will have to have less space for air than other similar items, and it should be overall smaller than other similar items, so long as its size does not hinder its function. Additionally, items that are less weight than others, as well as concentrated products will should qualify for the certification. As long as Amazon determines that your product has best-in-class “unit efficiency,” you will qualify. Amazon has stated that it will calculate unit efficiency with the equation: (cubed volume per unit) x (weight per unit).
