Amazon is considering making an entrance into the pharmacy market that would allow customers to order their prescriptions online nd have them delivered right to their doorstep. Amazon Prime in Japan already includes pharmaceutical sales and is considering expanding into the American market as well. Concerns in this situation lie in the fact that there are more restrictions and regulations that Amazon would have to follow in order to enter this industry.

In order to have the prescription filled via Amazon, the company would have to verify it with the doctor who prescribed it to the customer. It is also important to note that even though Amazon is known for having generally less expensive products than retail stores do, these pharmaceuticals would likely not be any less expensive than the ones you can pick up at your local CVS or Walgreens. It will be interesting to see how Amazon does in the pharmaceutical market and whether regulations in the United States allow them to find success.
