Amazon has recently signed a lease for a massive 335,000 square foot building in Manhattan. The addition will provide employment for more than 1,500 people. This move comes after the tech giant ditched its plans to open up an additional headquarters in New York City last February.

The move to the new Hudson Yards follows suit with Facebook, Google, and WarnerMedia, signaling the company’s willingness to be a part of the New York scene, recognizing its importance as a major hub for marketing and media. It is also worth noting that this time around, Amazon did not receive any tax incentives to set up shop in New York. Last February, Amazon was offered $3 billion in financial incentives for the tech giant to open up its second headquarters in Manhattan, however, the plan was skirted by various politicians and activists.

Amazon is also expanding its horizons on the ground in New York as well.
