Prime Members May Receive Additional Discounts at Whole Foods

Amazon seems to be shelling out discounts everywhere we look these days in an effort to increase the number for Prime membership. Since Amazon purchased Whole Foods last year, they have taken a number of steps to incentivize Prime membership even further as well as drive members towards buying from Whole Foods. In Austin, Texas, Amazon is testing additional discounts solely for Prime members at a Whole Foods location in the city. Though this marketing tactic is currently only a test, the store is advertising that Prime members can save an additional 10 percent on products throughout the store that are already on sale. There are also special discounts in the store that only Prime members can access.

However, despite the fact that these advertisements were in store for just one day, Whole Foods has stated that these discounts are not being tested. Even though there is clear evidence that this program had intentions of being tested, Whole Foods has still not confirmed anything.

Some of Amazon’s other recent discounts include that Prime members will be able to receive 5 percent cash back at Whole Foods through the Visa rewards card. It will be interesting to see where this goes and what other discounts Prime members receive.
