Record Breaking Prime Day 2017
Amazon’s Prime Day, which took place on for 30 hours between July 10 and 11 turned out to be the company’s highest reported sales day in its history. Amazon said that this Prime Day, which is only the third year of the new tradition, surpassed all records created on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This Prime Day’s sales were greater than the combined sales that took place on Black Friday and Cyber Monday of 2016.
Amazon was not only successful in general sales of all products that had deals, but most of the sales came from Amazon’s own products. The item that was most popular was the Amazon Echo Dot, which is a smaller version of the Amazon Echo smart speaker. In order to participate in the Prime Day deals, shoppers have to be Amazon Prime customers and pay the $99 fee each year. Not only did Prime Day have massive success with existing Prime members, but also resulted in many other people signing up for Prime.
Aside from Amazon products, the most sold products around the world from this year’s Prime Day included:
- Instant Pot Pressure Cooker
- 23andMe DNA Test kit
- Smart Plugs with Amazon’s Alexa capabilities
- Sony’s Playstation 4
- Flash Drives
- Lenovo Ideapad 310 Laptop
- Apple Lightning Cables for iPhone
- Nintendo Switch
- Whey Protein Powder
- External Hard Drives
- Soda Stream
- Game of Thrones box set
If this year’s Prime Day was this much of a success, one can only imagine how it will grow in the future as Amazon’s global empire continues to expand.
